Doug is an investment professional with 15 years of venture capital management and over 15 years of marketing and business development experience in the networking industry. He has broad knowledge and investment experience in the data networking, multimedia, and Internet infrastructure area. He is a partner at Horizon Ventures and his prior operational roles included serving as VP of Marketing for Precept Software, a network video software company which was acquired by Cisco Systems. He was also VP of marketing and business development for First Virtual Communications which went IPO. Prior to FVC, Doug was a senior marketing executive for the early years of Cisco Systems, 3Com/Bridge Communications, and Hewlett-Packard. He has funded and worked with numerous high-tech startup companies both as a VC and as an angel investor. Doug holds a B.S.E.E. degree from the University of California, Berkeley and a MBA degree from the Santa Clara University (SCU). He is a current Board Trustee for the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and an advisory board member of SCU’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE). He is a current member of the Sand Hill Angels group and was also the past president and board member of the Asia America MultiTechnology Association (AAMA).
