KMVT Community TV has two (2) TV/Video Production internship opportunities for Fall 2010. We are a non-profit organization providing local television, government access, and internet programming for local Bay Area residents. KMVT also serves as the premier creative agency for high end, innovative video and broadcast production services to various organizations while offering media production training to the local community and the greater SF Bay Area. The objective for KMVT interns is to have a well-rounded television production experience.

Interns will gain extensive hands-on training and experience in media production. Our environment offers abundant opportunities to learn different aspects of production for the highly motivated intern with a desire to learn. Dates/hours are flexible with a 10hr/week minimum commitment (or 120 total hours).

The basic learning objectives for the television/video production interns at KMVT is to have a well-rounded television production experience. Most broadcast stations give interns few real production opportunities. KMVT, being a local community station, relies heavily on its interns to actually do production. This includes, working as crew on studio programs, ENG production, and working on our EFP mobile truck.
The intern should be able to proficiently handle many aspects of the studio, field camera work, and non-linear computer editing. We prefer all interns to have some kind of previous experience in their area of interest. However, KMVT is committed to training our interns. We do what we can to train our interns so they are proficient in these areas once they leave KMVT.

Our interns are also encouraged to produce a Public Service Announcement for a local Non-Profit Organization. This gives the interns a great opportunity to actually develop a TV package that they can use for a demo reel and resume purposes.

An internship at KMVT is truly an excellent opportunity for the highly motivated and self-directed student to gain a breadth of experience in television production. The selected interns will find that the skill-sets they develop while interning at KMVT will truly help propel their career in television production and journalism.

If you are interested in gaining real hands-on television production experience beyond "getting coffee, or running errands" e-mail our Internship Coordinator, call us at (650) 968-1540 or download and send the intern application.
