
Call for Entries! Hometown Video Awards 2010The Hometown Video Awards is announcing its 2010 Call for Entries! The Hometown Video Festival honors and promotes community media and local cable programs that are first distributed on Public, Educational, and Governmental (PEG) access or Local Origination (LO), cable television channels. Sponsored by the Alliance for Community Media, this national festival recognizes creative programs that address community needs, develop diverse community involvement, challenge conventional commercial television formats, and move viewers to experience television in a different way. KMVT is proud of its winners in years past, and we continue to encourage producers to submit entries. There are numerous categories for entry, as well as an overall excellence category. The awards are presented at the International Conference in Pittsburgh, PA July 9, 2010. Hometown festival must receive your submission by March 27, 2010, in Olympia, WA, so it must be mailed early! Producers who want to take advantage of KMVT's $40 member entry fee must submit your DVDs & Entry Form to KMVT by Thursday, March 18th. Bring your package to the reception desk at KMVT along with a $40 check or credit card transaction.. All program entries must have been cablecast between January 1 and December 31, 2009. Program entries cannot exceed 30 minutes, if the program is longer than 30 minutes then you must assemble the first and last ten minutes as well as a ten minute sample from the middle. Series programs must select a single episode for entry, compilation tapes are not excepted. Programs may be submitted in the following categories: About Access, Access-ABLE, Children's programming, Community Event, Computer/Video Art, Cultural and International Diversity, Democracy in Action, Documentary Event/Profile/PSA, Educational Activities, Educational Class Project, Educational Profile, Empowerment, Entertainment and Variety, Entertainment Talk Show, Gay/Lesbian, Govt. Activities, Govt. Profile, Informational Feature, Informational Talk Show, Innovative, Instructional, Live Format, Local Performances, Magazine Shows, Making a Difference, Music Video, Nationally Distributed, News, Original Teleplay, PSA, Seniors, Short Subject, Spiritual/Inspirational, Sports Coverage, Sports Entertainment, Videotext, and Visual Arts. Each category is judged in three sections: Non-professional, Professional, and Youth.
