KMVT Restructured Access Fees and Policies (5/6/05) You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader to view any of the documents below. Click here to get free Acrobat Reader. Dear KMVT Access Users and Producers: Thank you for your understanding and patience over the past few months. We have been working hard over the past two months to evaluate KMVT's policies and procedures in an effort to take control of the changing financial picture of our organization. Please find below an outline of changes on the horizon: Access User Program: KMVT will introduce a new Access User Program on June 1, 2005. Under this program, those interested in utilizing KMVT services will be charged a fee for annual access services. This fee is specifically to be used to cover Access Users insurance fees, and KMVT equipment maintenance. Click here to view Annual Fee Schedule (Adobe PDF) As you will see, we have given special consideration to those residents in Mountain View, Los Altos and Cupertino especially seniors and youth. Non-residents will continue to use our services, but at a slightly higher Access User fee. All current producers and crew members must pay the access fee in order to continue to use KMVT's production facility as of June 1, 2005. Proof of residency will be required. New Workshops: In June, KMVT will institute a new Workshop Curriculum that focuses on specific educational tracks in studio production or field production. Each hands-on workshop is designed to get members trained as quickly as possible, with specific measurements and certifications for competencies. Our Orientation and Sponsorship workshops are free, and the other training classes range in price from $40.00 - $85.00. Individualized instruction is also available. Click here for Training Dates Fee Increases: After exhaustive study of video equipment rental rates at both neighboring access stations and professional studios, the KMVT Board agreed that fee increases were necessary. The new fees, which will be in effect beginning June 1, 2005, are attached. Also, as of June 1, KMVT will institute a pay as you go policy for all access user fees. Click here to view Equipment Rate Sheet (Adobe PDF) Pay as you go: As of June 1st, all equipment users will be required to pay for fees and services at time of use. If you fall under the contracts of Los Altos or Cupertino you are not required to pay for services. If you have sponsor or underwriter monies on account you are not required to pay for services "Speak-Out": KMVT is pleased to reintroduce our newly formatted staff produced show, "Speak-Out" for the exclusive use of our Mountain View, Los Altos and Cupertino residents. Speak-Out gives anyone in our contracted cities the opportunity to drop by our studios and present their "free speech" message in front of our cameras, to be aired in 30-minute edited segments on KMVT Cable Channel 15. There is no charge for this service. Click here for info on Speak-Out Playback: KMVT will continue its practice of "free" playback if your program is produced at KMVT. However, all Import Producers must be part of our Access User Program in order to air their content on Channel 15. Volunteer for Credit: From time to time, volunteer opportunities will be offered to those who would like to earn credit for equipment usage. Each of these opportunities will be negotiated on an individual basis. User Agreements: Many KMVT producers and crewmembers have not signed current Access User Agreements. All of KMVT's User Agreements must be current in order to comply with the policies mandated by our franchise agreements. Therefore, all Access Users will be asked to sign the agreements starting June 1, 2005. User Guide: All of these new public access changes are explained in more detail in our New User's Guide. All Access Users will be required to sign a release statement stating that they have received this document and agree to abide by its contents. Click here to view 2005 User Guide (Adobe PDF) We are excited about our future, and trust you are too. Through better policies and practices, good things are happening that will help us become financially secure for our future; in turn, it will benefit one of our most valued resources: our community access users and producers. We will continue to keep you updated on our progress. Quick Links: |
