KMVT Community Television honors Volunteer of the Year Tom Clark at Celebration of Leaders 2009!

Tom Clark is a Bay Area native, having been born and raised in the East Bay.  Falling in love with computers at an early age, Tom bought his first PC, an Apple II in 1977 and taught himself computer programming.  In the 1980s Tom moved to the Silicon Valley where he became a software engineer for such companies as Xerox and Hewlett-Packard, specializing in database applications programming.  In 1999, Tom and his wife Lisa DewBerry, a criminal defense attorney, created and produced a legal talk show heard weekly on Bay Area radio and XM Satellite radio. Their program had the distinction of being the first and only radio program to be approved by The State Bar of California as a source of continuing legal education.

Tom's other passion is video production. Tom has created promotional and instructional videos for non-profits such as Habitat for Humanity and The Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula. In 2003 Tom answered a posting on Craigslist asking for volunteer crew members for Creative TV, a public access television program produced at KMVT in Mountain View. Since then Tom has directed, technical directed and edited hundreds of episodes of programs produced at KMVT, The Media Center in Palo Alto and MCTV in Millbrae. Recently Tom combined his software engineering and video production skills to create a slow-motion instant replay system that has been used by KMVT and MCTV in their coverage of high school and semi-professional football games.
