Mike Kasperzak

 

 

Mike Kasperzak is a Public and Government affairs consultant representing a wide variety of clients, including start-ups and developers, as well as serving as the California Field Representative for the National League of Cities.  He served on the Mountain View City Council for eight years, serving as Mayor in 2003, was re-elected to a new four year term in 2008 and was subsequently re-elected in 2012.  He has served two terms as Mayor.  Prior to his election to the City Council, Mike served three years as a Parks & Recreation Commissioner and two years as a member of the Environmental Planning Commission.  He is also ran for the California State Legislature representing the 24th Assembly District in 2016.

During his public service career, Mike has served on the Bay Area Water Supply & Conservation Agency Board, the Santa Clara County Recycling and Waste Reduction Commission, the Bay Area Economic Forum and various committees of the Valley Transportation Authority and the Santa Clara Valley Water District.  He served as President of the League of California Cities in 2012 and as First Vice President of the Santa Clara County Cities Association in 2006.  

Mike has also served as Chair of the League’s Revenue & Tax Committee and currently serves on both the League’s Board of Directors and the Board of the Institute for Local Government.  He also Chaired the Finance, Adminstration and Intergovernmental Relations (FAIR) Policy Steering Committee, the Leadership Training Institute Task Force, the Health Care Task Force  and served on the Strategic Planning Task Force of the National League of Cities where he currently serves on the Board of Directors.  

Professionally, Mike was a commercial mediator with Silicon Valley Mediation Group, and is a member of the Advisory Board of Nextdoor.com, a San Francisco based neighborhood social networking startup.  Prior to establishing his mediation practice, Mike practiced law for 11years as a defense trial attorney specializing in Aviation and products liability.

Actively involved in the community, Mike has Chaired the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; the local chapter of the American Red Cross where he also served as a national management volunteer at Red Cross Headquarters; and he has served on the Board of Directors of Acterra, the Los Altos Community Foundation, the Community School of Music and Arts, Avenidas, the Santa Clara County Bar Association and Lewis and Clark College. 

Mike attended Lewis & Clark College in Portland, OR where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in Business Administration and Economics in 1976.  He received his JD from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1982.
